Spanish for the Professions minor QuickTips:
- Students cannot declare the minor in the college office. All students enrolled in SPAN 265 are automatically declared by the Department of Romance Languages.
- To get approval to start the first course in the minor (SPAN 265), pre-register by filling out an online pre-registration form (link to the left).
- In pre-registering for the minor, students select a profession-specific track (business, medical, journalism or law)—and CANNOT switch tracks once in the minor.
- "Departmental consent" in ConnectCarolina means students who have been admitted to the minor will be enrolled by the department from the department office.
- Pre-requisite: SPAN 204 (may have taken SPAN 250, 255, 260).
- Students who have taken SPAN 300 or higher cannot start this minor. Hispanic studies is their only Spanish major/minor option.
- No course can be taken as an elective—all courses are open only to students in the minor program.
- Seniors cannot start the minor (it requires a minimum of 3 semesters).
- The courses cannot be taken out of order nor simultaneously (SPAN 265, SPAN 32X, SPAN 329)
- It is not possible to both major and minor in Spanish (or to do two different minors in Spanish).
